The Kavvadas family have been in Lefkas for several generations. Nikos' job as a ship captain took him to Athens where he married Maruso. They settled in Piraeus where their children grew up, visiting Lefkas in the summer and moving back permanently when Nikos retired. They decided to open the original Seaside tavern on family land in Geni in 1992.
Kosta worked in Lefkas and Athens, before leaving to work in London. He was an assistant manager at Cafe Rouge for several years before deciding to return to Lefkas and take over the taverna from his parents.
He brought with him a fresh approach towards decor and presentation, whilst maintaining the emphasis on Maruso's good, home cooking and Nikos' freshly caught fish.
Since taking over completely from his parents in 2005, Kostas has developed the taverna into today's stylish Seaside Restaurant. He has a built a loyal client base with people returning annually to enjoy the excellent service and modern twists on the family recipes that started it all.
In 2011 Kostas completed the renovation of the apartments originally built by his father Nikos. Finished to a high standard with an inviting infinity pool and terrace area, it is now possible to enjoy good food and a luxurious stay at the Seaside. In 2012 they developed the business further by hosting four weddings and achieving a Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor for their consistent excellent reviews.
